Norfolk Winter Guide
Longer evenings, some dazzlingly sunny days, this is the moment to wrap up warm and really enjoy the great open spaces of North Norfolk, delightful villages and ancient monuments.
Winter Menu
Our winter menu is brimming with good things; lots of fish, a daily pie, local game, wonderful warm seasonal vegetable salads, risottos and pasta dishes. And irresistible puddings using the amazing pears, plums and apples from our orchard up the road, and blackberries picked along the way.
And don’t forget our magnificent Sunday roast. The stuff of legends and a perfect occasion to gather friends and family together.

New Year’s Eve
Always a wonderfully relaxed evening at The R&C. No set price menus, no having to stay up till midnight (though you can if you want to), just The Rose & Crown at its best, warm, welcoming and cheery, and our normal, delicious menu with some extra special specials.
Be sure to book as we are likely to be very busy.
What’s on at The R&C
North Norfolk wouldn’t be the same without the birds. In the next few weeks 40,000 geese will arrive from the frozen North, flying overhead in breathtaking ‘v’ formations morning and evening.
Meanwhile thousands of wading birds have arrived at Snettisham beach. Wonderful to watch as they feed on flats of The Wash, on high tides they rise up twisting and turning in their famous, amazing murmurations. A sight not to be missed. See Snettisham Beach tide times.
And, on our doorstep…
On Saturday 13th December, the illuminations on Snettisham’s lovely St Mary’s Church will be turned on along with a big light concert featuring festive favourites old and new, performed by Erin Elizaa and other artists.
And finally, a little boast!
We are delighted to have been included in The Telegraph’s guide to England’s Top 500 pubs 2025, and also to be listed in the new Good Food Guide 2025. The Rose & Crown was built 600 years ago (to house the craftsmen working on St Mary’s just up the road), we are still going strong, and remain proudly independent, and family owned and run.
